世界配信に向けて：メタルヘッド達へのメッセージ

この度はキングレコード様のお取り計らいにより、サブラベルズの音源が2023年11月1日より世界配信される事になりました。サブラベルズをサポートして下さった関係者とファンの皆様有難うございます。

サブラベルズは1982年から1987年まで活動しました。1986年のメジャーデビューまでは日本中をツアーに明け暮れる3年間でした。

俺は1970年代の国内外のハードロックを聴いて育ち、1980年代のNWOBHMとほぼ同時に日本でハードなロックをプレイし始めました。イギリスでハードな音楽がリスペクトされ始めたのを知り、日本でも影響を受けたバンド達と小さなライブハウスでライブをしまくりました。すごくピュアーなパワーが生まれたので、熱狂的なオーディエンスが集まりました。国内の日本語のロックバンドから強く影響を受けていたため、日本語のまま詞を書き、そのまま歌いました。元々英語の勉強もせずに、ロックばっかり聴いていた事もあり、直で伝わる日本語がスタイルになりました。世界の人が聴くには、言葉の壁があると思いますが、是非それを超えて、日本という小さな島国で生まれたヘビーメタルを楽しんで下さい。曲の多くのテーマは、光ある所には必ず影があり、そこから生まれる世界を描いています。

このバンドを聴き続けてくれたのは、昔から日本中のツアーを観てくれたファンや、メタルマニアの若いファンが35年間、この曲達を鳴らし続けてくれたことに感謝しています。

【ある少年の証言】
時は1985年。音楽雑誌で読んだ浦和のサブラベルズが、地元にやって来る。イントロが始まり、瞬間的に求めていたのはこれだと認識した。怒涛のようにたたみかけ、マイナー調でがむしゃらに押し寄せる音の重圧感とツインリードが奏でる旋律は、まるで向う見ずに戦場で戦いを挑む怒り狂った戦士の魂の叫びを連想させた。バンドが解散して31年経過しても聴き続けている理由は、他では圧倒的に不足で、サブラの代替が利くバンドが存在しないからです。そんなバンドに2018年のイベントで再び感動を体験できた。イントロで鳥肌が止まらない。涙腺は完全に崩壊した。これからもひらめきをサブラベルズは与えてくれると確信している。

メンバーはそれぞれの音楽活動を続けていて、イベント等があれば、年に一回くらいサブラベルズでライブをすることもあります。メタルを続けているのは自分だけで、ボーカルをベースに変えSxxRxxS（エスアールエス）というバンドでガンガンライブやってます。興味のある、世界中のメタルヘッド達はネットで聴いてみて下さい。国境や言語の壁を越えてこれからもメタルマシーンは走り続けます。とにかく有難う！世界配信を楽しんで！

Sabbrabells was active from 1982 to 1987. Until our major label debut in 1986, we spent three years touring all over Japan.

I grew up listening to domestic and international hard rock of the 1970s, and started playing hard rock in Japan around the same time as NWOBHM in the 1980s. I learned that hard rock was starting to be respected in the UK, so I played a lot of shows at small venues with bands that influenced me in Japan. There was such pure power that an enthusiastic audience gathered. Because I was strongly influenced by Japanese rock bands in Japan, I wrote the lyrics in Japanese and sang them as they were in Japanese. Originally in school, I didn’t study English and only listened to rock music, so I developed a style of communicating in Japanese directly. I think there is a language barrier for people around the world to listen to us, but I hope you can overcome that and enjoy the heavy metal music that was born in the small island nation of Japan. The theme of many of our songs is “wherever there is light, there is always a shadow” and the world that is born from that is depicted.

I am grateful to the fans who have continued to listen to this band for 35 years, including the fans who have watched us tour around Japan and the young fans who are metal enthusiasts. It is because of the fans that have enabled many media to continue to ring the bell for the past 35 years.

[Testimony of a metal kid]
The year was 1985. Sabbrabells, a band from Urawa I read about in a music magazine were coming to my hometown. I instantly knew this was what I had been looking for when the intro started. The iron-fisted sound of the surging, minor-scale and the melody of the twin-lead guitars reminded me of an angry warrior’s cry of the soul, fearlessly fighting on the battlefield. It’s been 31 years since the band disbanded but they still cannot be replaced to anything else for me. I experienced the excitement once again at an event in 2018. I had goose bumps when the intro started and I couldn’t see a damn thing as my tear glands had completely collapsed. I am confident that they will continue to give me inspiration.

Each of the members of Sabbrabells continues their own music activities, and if there is an event, we sometimes perform as Sabbrabells like once a year. I’m the only one who continues to play metal. I’ve changed from a singer since then and returned to what I was originally, a bass player and have recently been recording and performing live with a band called SxxRxxS (pronounced SRS). All interested metalheads around the world should find us and listen to us online. This metal machine will continue to run, this time beyond borders and language barriers.
